Erika Alexander had high praise for her The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins costar Daniel Radcliffe, comparing him to “a therapy dog” because of the calming effect he has on everyone around him.
Speaking on The Awardist podcast, Alexander said Radcliffe has an unusually reassuring presence on set.
“He comes into the room and things level, things get calm, like a therapy dog. He can go anywhere, and people relax. That’s inherent to who he is.”
Alexander, who stars as Monica in The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins, said she and Radcliffe quickly developed a close friendship while waiting to learn whether the show’s pilot would be picked up. She recalled that he would text her saying he’d be “heartbroken” if the series didn’t move forward because he missed working with the cast.
She also described Radcliffe as a natural protector. According to Alexander, when a dog on set became startled and lunged toward costar Tracy Morgan, Radcliffe instinctively stepped in to shield him. Alexander said that willingness to put others first is reflected in his acting style as well.
The comedy series, created by Robert Carlock and Sam Means, follows former football star Reggie Dinkins (Morgan) as he attempts to rebuild his reputation through a documentary project. Radcliffe plays filmmaker Arthur Tobin, while Alexander portrays Reggie’s ex-wife and manager.
Alexander’s comments add to a growing list of colleagues who have praised Radcliffe’s generosity and collaborative spirit since his days starring in the Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone franchise.
